Addison’s is best known for its biggest event, Kaboom Town, one of the top fireworks shows in the country. If you missed it in July, don’t worry, there’s always next year. In the meantime, fall arrives in Addison with several events marked on its calendar. Make the most of your time in Addison by stopping by these fun fall events.

Wheels and Warbirds

Car, airplane, and history enthusiasts should not miss Wheels and Warbirds at the Cavanaugh Flight Museum. This event takes place September 23-24 and combines cool cars and hot planes. View the museum’s incredible collection of vintage aircraft and military vehicles. Take a ride in a wartime plane and watch the Sherman military tank demonstrate its capabilities. Auto shows include the Pontiac Southern Nationals Car Show on Saturday and American Pride Car Show on Sunday. Both feature a stellar lineup of vintage, classic, and custom vehicles. Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for kids aged 4-12.

Shakespeare in the Park

The annual Shakespeare in the Park is a firmly established event in the Dallas region. This year audiences will enjoy Titus Andronicus, considered to be Shakespeare’s first tragedy. Plays take place at Samuell Grand Park in Downtown Dallas from September 20-30 and at Addison Circle Park from October 5-15. Tickets cost $10 on Thursdays and Sundays and $15 on Fridays and Saturdays. Seniors and students enjoy discounted prices at $7 on Thursdays and Sundays and $12 on Fridays and Saturdays. Active military personnel and their families are allowed free entry. Performances begin at 8 p.m.

Wellness Expo

The Wellness Expo is a two-day event taking place October 14-15 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Addison Conference Centre. Admission is $7 but free for children under 12 and seniors over 65. This is the expo to attend if you’re seeking alternative health remedies. Over 100 exhibitors will feature products and services to rejuvenate mind, body, and spirit. Attend one of the many talks and demos or engage in Reiki, massage, reflexology, yoga, and psychic readings. You can also buy jewelry, crystals, wands, aromatherapy products, food and snacks, and a variety of health and fitness products.

Walk to Defeat ALS

Vitruvian Park is a popular park in Addison, with several events taking place here throughout the year. The Walk to Defeat ALS takes place on October 28. This two-hour walk starts at 10 a.m. and finishes at 12 p.m. You’ll need to arrive at 9 a.m. to check in. This event raises funds and awareness for The ALS Association. All funds are distributed to the organization’s local chapters to help sustain their care services and support ongoing research. You can register individually or as a team. There is no fee to register, however, individuals are encouraged to raise or donate a minimum of $250 and teams $1750.

Addison is an unassuming town and many consider it a hidden gem in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. Despite its small size, only 4.4 square miles, there are more than 180 restaurants and plenty of parks. Once you’re done enjoying the town’s fall events, sample some delicious fare at one of the many restaurants or simply relax at a park.
