Addison, Texas, has plenty of fun activities to choose from this summer, whether you’re looking for live music, movie nights, or a chance to dance the night away. Here are five fun things going on in Addison.

Addison Kaboom Town!

Addison Kaboom Town! is a Fourth of July fireworks celebration that takes place on July 3. It’s a North Texas tradition as well as one of the country’s top fireworks displays. Admission is free to Addison Kaboom Town!┬áIn addition to the epic fireworks display, there’s also a carnival to keep you busy while you wait for the big show to start. There are food vendors as well, so you can make a day of it. The carnival’s midway area is one of the top spots for viewing the fireworks. Afterward, there’s a concert to enjoy in case you want to linger for a while before getting in the car.

Addison Summer Series

Addison’s Summer Series is a weekly event at Beckert Park where you can see all kinds of performances on Saturday nights. The Summer Series events are free, and all you need to do is bring a picnic blanket and some snacks. Performances start at 8 p.m. Some of the shows scheduled this summer include Bidi Bidi Banda, Lao Tizer, BJ Stricker and the Kings of State Street, Joseph Vincelli, and Escape, a Journey tribute band. Addison Circle restaurants offer discounted specials on Summer Series nights so you can bring some great food to the event while supporting the neighborhood businesses.

Monday Medley

Monday Medley is a series of performances that take place at the Addison Theatre Centre on select Monday nights throughout the summer. It’s an outdoor event, so bring a blanket or some lawn chairs and settle in to enjoy a night of music, dance, or comedy. Some of the shows scheduled include Dance XPress, an aerial dance troupe, and the Robert Holbert Group for some classic R & B music. You can also see Turtle Creek Chorale, Alternative Comedy, and the acoustic guitar music of Eddie Healey. Monday Medley is a free event.

Vitruvian Nights Live

Vitruvian Nights Live is a free summer concert series at Addison’s Vitruvian Park Amphitheater. Shows are scheduled every other Thursday night, and you can also find a selection of gourmet food trucks to get a great dinner along with the performance. Some of the shows scheduled include the Spazmatics, Warehouse, Emerald City, and With or Without U2. Shows start at 7 p.m. and end at 9:30 p.m.

Vitruvian Salsa Festival

The Vitruvian Salsa Festival is a fun way to practice your salsa moves. On Saturday nights in August, grab your dancing shoes and head over to Vitruvian Park. Vitruvian Salsa Festival is free. Along with dance lessons, you’ll enjoy live salsa music. Hours are 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. This is a great way to get some exercise and hang out with new friends while you learn some new dance moves.
